Conversion to biodiesel

Many of our clients are transitioning from traditional fossil fuel diesel to biodiesel to meet both their own and their customers’ environmental requirements. When switching to biodiesel, several factors must be thoroughly checked and verified by the manufacturers of the equipment using the diesel, such as generators. Many engine manufacturers accept the switch with the condition that tanks previously containing diesel must be emptied and cleaned before biodiesel is introduced. This is because biodiesel mixed with diesel can create a sludge that may quickly block pipes and connections. During the conversion process, more frequent testing and regular diesel polishing are required to avoid contamination. Biodiesel is more hygroscopic and attracts more moisture than traditional fossil fuel diesel.
